Moving Clowns: clown-theatre & awareness

Moving Clowns” is a workshop module for those interested in self-awareness, experiential learning and the art of clowning. The workshop will be a combination of exploring awareness through movement, and clown theatre.
The workshop focuses on self-awareness through movement and clowning. The body-mind centering will be achieved through various tasks inspired by movement improvisation, awareness methods such as Feldenkreis and Yoga, and Abhinaya philosophy of Indian classical dance forms, supporting us with the following clowning aspect. In the clown-theatre part of the workshop, we will explore our inner clown. Games and exercises will put us in touch with ourselves and different aspects of clowning. In little improvisations on stage, we will be able to discover the clown within us. This will happen in an atmosphere of inclusion, respect and fun. The workshop will introduce the idea of “the new clown” - a form of clown theatre that does not involve white face paint or circus clowning.
The workshop offers a combination of learning about oneself, and finding conscious self-expression in a clownesque way.
There are on-going workshops offered at the GEA Akademie, Schrems, that are open to public.
"Moving Clowns" is a collaborative project between Nayana Bhat and clown-trainer Peter Kaubisch (Germany).
